Child Safety Is Only As Good As The Pool Gate Latch

As we have examined a number of different styles of swimming pool fences on this site we have to say that the fence is only as safe as the quality of the pool gate lock. If the pool fence gate is left unclosed, unlocked or is not operating correctly then it is useless and the very reason it is there has been made redundant.

The main reason for having a pool safety fence is to provide protection for children and peace of mind for families when children are in the pool vicinity. There are a number of fences which do provide a manual gate with the fence and these have no automatic mechanisms to operate and are visually open or shut. Their ability to provide safety for children it totally dependent on those supervising the pool at the time the gate is open.

A much better and safer option to protect infants and toddlers is a self closing and self latching gate. Most of these gates incorporate the patented gate latch branded Magna latch® as well as the Tru Close® adjustable self closing hinges. This gate hardware is of the latest latching and closing mechanisms technology and have proven to be the very best on the market at this time.

The Magna Latch® gate uses a powerful magnet to operate the latching mechanism, this is a unique operation. As the catch approaches the latch, the magnet attracts it, pulls it in, and then mechanically latches it tight. This operation is magnetic and non-mechanical. It has a great benefit in that it requires very little strength to close it making it more secure than catches requiring great force. This latch is also key lockable and is recognised worldwide as one of the safest pieces of gate hardware available.  When used in conjunction with the Tru Close® hinges this gate operation is considered the safest on the market today.

This is a quote from the well known Swimming Pool Suppliers – Guardian Pool Fence Systems, Inc
“This latch also meets the Barrier Code requirements of the NSPI and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. The tension adjustable hinges, made by the same company, also won the Australian Design Award. Without this hardware, we might never have built this gate.
When the Magna-Latch and the tension adjustable hinges are used with our PATENTED gate design, we believe no other system on the market today offers the level of Safety, Versatility, Practicality and Protection that this system provides.”

This company provides the ultimate in pool fencing and is also highly aware of the important safety and legal issues involved in providing such vital pieces of pool protection safety equipment.

Other pool supply companies, who have been reviewed for this topic, have all stated that they use this particular brand pool gate latch because it is the best available worldwide.

Once you make a decision in regard to which swimming pool fence system you purchase, it is important to make sure that this is the locking hardware being used in the gate latch system for that fence.

California Child Custody - Information For Making a Custody and Visitation Schedule

By Peter Worthington
Child custody laws in California provide clear guidelines for the court to outweigh the child's best interest standard in a court battle. It is specifically stated in the California Family Code that it is a public policy of that state for the courts to consider the health, safety and welfare of children, their primary concern when deciding custody and visitation schedules. A custody or visitation fight may be decided in favor of one party rather than the other, simply because the judge must give priority to the health, safety and welfare factors above anything else.
