Pool Fences Protect Busy Little People

Once again the sunshine is beckoning as the holiday season approaches and our thoughts turn to freedom from time restraints and enjoyment with our friends and families. As you prepare for this special time you are maybe in the process of installing a residential swimming pool and have been researching the addition of a fence barrier for your pool area.

The first thing to be considered is the existence of any local state and federal laws which have specific requirements which must be met when installing pool fencing. Check if these apply to your location.

Sadly, child fatalities from drowning are an unnecessary statistic which can be greatly lowered with the installation of secure pool fencing. Children under the age of 5 years are particularly vulnerable and preventing them entering the pool deck is the main objective of installing a pool barrier.

Glass pool fencing is durable and very attractive with a clean modern look. It is available in a semi-frameless structure or can be totally frameless. This model has become extremely popular and provides a seamless view of the total pool area. Due to this visual ability it allows supervision of the pool area to be anywhere within range of sight. This is the most expensive type of pool fencing and the budget requirements are larger to achieve this elegant and safe pool barrier. This is a luxury item providing a very secure and enduring addition to your property.

The Mesh pool fencing is probably the most popular choice to provide security in this area. It is very cost effective as well as it being a removable or portable pool fence. The see through mesh is difficult, if not impossible, for little people to climb and it is simple to unistall when not required and can be reinstalled in a short time. It comes in a variety of colors and opaque qualities. Due to the transparency of the mesh it allows line of sight between the house and pool area to monitor the pool area.  Even though mesh is less expensive, its durablility and permanence is not as good as frameless or semi-frameless glass pool fencing.

Another extremely popular material for pool fencing is the vinyl fence which comes in a number of designs and varies in cost.  It often has aluminum internal reinforcement which makes it a very strong and viable option. Vinyl pool fencing is less expensive but remains an appealing alternative to other fence options. Vinyl or Resin fencing is particularly suitable for above ground pools and is easily installed by the handy DIY person.

Timber fencing is not as popular as previously due to the ongoing maintenance required for upkeep. As it is situated close to water for this purpose th a popular choice as it is cost efficient, attractive and durable but does require regular maintenance as it is prone to warping and wood rot in the environment around a pool.

Aluminum pool fencing is also a great model to research and maybe one that will suit your requirements. It is aesthetically attractive and is very stable and long lasting. It can be installed for any shaped pool and is available in a number of colors and styles. It is sold in panels and must be designed to be near enough to the ground to prevent a child crawling or pulling themselves underneath. The uprights must also be close enough together to prevent an infant gaining entry to the pool area. This style of pool fencing can also be removable if required.

It is also important to make sure that the pool fence gate has a secure form of latching hardware. The best fence in the world is useless if the fence gate is not secure because of poor quality latching performance.
